I was asked to give a presentation on cybersecurity risks in the electric sector for a workshop for Sandia National Lab on extending nuclear probabilistic risk assessments (PRAs) focused on safety to incorporate security. I’m not a PRA expert, but disaster studies has interesting things to say about risk assessment so I decided to present on how a disaster sociologist would think about electric grid cybersecurity. Results of the workshop will eventually be used to guide Sandia’s future PRA research.
